OVERHEAT DETECTION AND OVERHEAT COUNTERMEASURE DEVICE FOR TORQUE CONVERTER

PURPOSE:To improve overheat detection precision of a torque converter by accurately estimating an oil temperature in a torque converter by means of a signal from an automatic transmission operation oil temperature sensor without adding a sensor. CONSTITUTION:Rotation of an engine 1 is inputted to a transmission 2 by a torque converter 3 and input rotation is shifted at a gear shift step decided through control of a gear shift by a controller 9 and outputted to a shaft 4. Further, a torque converter slip amount is determined by the controller 9 from signals from sensors 11 and 12, and a difference between a torque converter heat generating amount during a set time determined from the torque slip amount and a torque converter heat generating amount and a torque converter radiating amount during a set time is determined. The transmission operation oil temperature detecting value of a sensor 14 before a set time is added and subtracted by the difference to estimate an oil temperature in the torque converter.
