Pharmaceutical compositions and methods of treatment are disclosed for providing instant and sustained relief from pain or symptoms associated with episodic heartburn or gastric distress in humans, comprising H2-receptor antagonists and antacids, more particularly compositions and methods of treatment comprising (1) nizatidine and (2) calcium carbonate or magaldrate.
