The sled comprises side portions (1) which are interconnected by transverse struts (2-4). Their rear sections form parallel runners while their front sections curve upwards. The seat or load support surface is carried by a rectangular, or trapezoidal frame (7) supported on the runners by legs (5). The legs are of spring type, and one transverse strut (2) is horizontally fitted across the front section. The front of the frame is swivelably joined to the transverse strut for movement about the latter axis.
