The method involves allocating an information unit from a limited amount of different information units to a section, of predetermined length, of a noisy data signal transmitted in a signal transmission system. The data is transmitted by periodically inserting information units in the data signal. The different information units are encoded by a typical cycle of the data signal in the corresponding signal section. In the signal transmission system, at the reception end, different time-divided integrals are generated for each signal section under the cycle of the received data signal. The different partial surfaces are allocated values according to their size. Using these values, a decision is made as to which information units are to be transmitted in the signal section under consideration. |
