Radio aerial mounted on bodywork of motor vehicle

An aerial suitable for transmission and reception of signals from and to a road vehicle has an outer part (3) inserted through a hole in the vehicle bodywork (1). The lower end of the part is of elastomer and has a formed groove (4) provided for fixing purposes and a profiled edge (19) ensuring that proper sealing is obtained. Located on the underside of the body, a fixing disc (6) has a radial slot (13,14) engaging the groove formed in the aerial. The HF cable (7) and insulation (10) are embedded within the disc and contact rings (18) connect to an interface (9) coupled to an aerial wire (8) acting as a quarter wave probe. The fixing disc provides a capacitive coupling to the vehicle bodywork.
