Method of producing metal container with carrying handle

The handle is formed from the container (1) and is held by trunnion mountings (5), projecting outwards and formed either before or after the container is formed. The mounting may be formed with a base (4), projecting outwards from which the trunnion projects. Alternatively, the trunnion may be replaced by a blind hole projecting inwards from the base. Forming is pref. carried out by deep drawing, using a punch and die. The handle is formed of a bracket attached to the container by the mountings and the container may have a partially conical shape.
