Fluid actuated rotary drive with housing chamber

A piston is located in a housing (2) chamber (3) of the rotary drive (1) which is non-rotatably coupled to a driven shaft (15) brought out from the housing. The outer periphery (27) of the piston contains several helical grooves (28,28'), extending both axially and in the peripheral direction. Into each groove fits a guide member (36,36') fixed on the housing. When the piston is axially displaced by applied pressure, it is forced into a rotary movement, which can be tapped at the driven shaft. The grooves are offset w.r.t. the piston peripheral direction, e.g. by 180 deg., as are the guide members.
