These inlcude a unit (6)for copying documents on microfilm (42), a data scanning unit (6)for detecting information on documents and converting this into digital information, and a data storing unit (24,30) for recording digital information on optical discs (34). There is at least one data access station (18,18') communicating through a transmission or transfer line (LAN, WAN) with the data storing unit and also a microfilm archive station (36).
