The gripper has a swivel drive of a gripper bridge (12) on a gripper strut mechanism (18) comprises main and auxiliary cams (40,42) non-rotatably fitted on a shaft (34) coacting with cam travel members for the gripper bridge movement. The gripper strut mechanism engages the middle of the gripper bridge for initiating a force necessary for the swivel motion. Pref. the main and auxiliary cams are fitted on the common shaft in the region of the gripper stand mechanism. The drive shaft typically passes through the gripper strut mechanism.
