Stable binding for stack of articles

The use of a strip of plastic film made of memory polymer (I) for holding together a stack of articles without any other means of bonding, so as to form a stable pack of given size in the winding direction, is claimed. The initial length of strip (I) in the unstretched state (L1) is 1/2-2/3 times the circumference (U) of the entire pack; (I) is first stretched to a length (L2) greater than (U) and then wound round the stack, and the stabilising effect of the wrapping is achieved by cold shrinkage to give an elongation of at least 50% in the strip, as defined by the amount of wrap-around.
