The method involves the blind having a winding shaft and a guided drop bar, prestressed in the drop direction, which is automatically arrestable in its extended end position. After removal from its lower end position, the drop bar is alternately arrestable and releasable. In the region of its end position the drop bar is guided in a heart-shaped, curved path (12) with non-return flaps (20a-d) in front of its reverse points. By movement in its end position the drop bar actuates a control for affecting an arrester.
