A flexible core (16) for a hand-held device such as a flashlight (10) includes a pair of conductive wires (54,56) which electrically connect a source of power to a power using implement (92). A flexible spine (28) surrounds the pair of conductive wires (54,56) and includes a plurality of interconnected universally rotatable members. A resilient sleeve (18) engages the outer surface of the rotatable members forming the spine (28). The ends of the sleeve (18) extend into a longitudinal (13,15) bore of either the base housing (12) or the working end housing (14), each of the bores (13,15) including a plurality of inwardly extending ridges (100) for engaging the outer surface of the sleeve (18). <IMAGE> |
