Prepn. of chloromethylpyridines of formula (I), comprises reacting pyridine deriv. of formula (II) with a formamide deriv. of formula (III) and a chlorinating agent, if appropriate in the presence of a diluent, at 20-120 degrees C. X1 = H, halo or alkyl; R1 = H, alkyl, opt. substd., phenyl; and R2, R3 = (cyclo)alkyl or together represent alkanediyl. |
