A dispensing assembly (10) for heating and subsequent dispensing of a microwaveable adhesive material (22), comprising: a dispenser housing (12) having a microwaveable adhesive charge-receiving cavity therein; a microwave susceptor member (44) in the cavity, constructed and arranged to receive microwave energy when the dispensing assembly is exposed to microwave radiation and to responsively generate heat; and a microwaveable adhesive charge (20) of a size and shape for insertion into and retention in the cavity including said microwave receptor. The housing may comprise a seamless, resiliently deformable, unitary thermally insulating sleeve, and the microwaveable adhesive charge advantageously is devoid of susceptor materials and susceptor structure. The adhesive charge article may comprise a container (24) having disposed therein a solid body of hot melt adhesive material having a cross-sectional shape differing from the cross-sectional shape of the container in which the hot melt adhesive material is disposed for microwave heating. <MATH>
