Use of interferon gamma for the inhibition of proliferation and differentiation of primitive hematopoietic progenitor cells

The invention provides a method for inhibition of proliferation of primitive hematopoietic progenitor cells and hematopoietic stem cells, by incubating preparations containing said cells with IFN- gamma . The method is especially useful for protecting said cells during purging techniques using cytotoxic treatment, and for protection of said cells during in vivo cytotoxic treatment. $$
