<p>A power supply apparatus for electrical discharge machining and an electrical discharge interval control method using the power supply apparatus. In electrical discharge machining, measurement of a predetermined minimum operating time (T0) is started at the point (P0) when voltage starts to be applied between electrodes, that is between an electrode (1) and a workpiece (2), and measurement of a predetermined downtime (T3) is started at the point (P2) when a power source (3) is disconnected between the electrodes (1,2). In the case where the measurement of the minimum operating time (T0) is already finished by the time the measurement of the downtime (T3) is finished, the next operating cycle is entered by supplying power again between the electrodes (1,2) at the end of the measurement of the downtime (T3). On the other hand, in the case where the measurement of the minimum operating time (T0) is not finished yet by the time the measurement of the downtime (T3) is finished, the next operating cycle is entered by supplying power again between the electrodes (1,2) at the end of the measurement of an extended downtime (T3), which is extended to the end of the measurement of the minimum operating time (T0). Thus, an appropriate electrical discharge interval for the electrical discharge machining is obtained. <MATH></p> |
