PURPOSE: To form an inorganic film on the skin, hair or nail after the evaporation of solvent, mask the wrinkles of the skin, impart the hair with gloss and give excellent cosmetic effect on the skin, hair and nail by using a colloidal suspension containing an inorganic filler as a base. CONSTITUTION: Skin, hair and/or nail are treated with a colloidal suspension containing an inorganic filler as a base and produced by a sol-gel process and the liquid medium is evaporated to form an inorganic film on the skin, etc. The matte state of the skin is improved by this process to visually mask the wrinkles. The hair gets improved gloss and the suspension imparts the skin, hair and/or nail with excellent cosmetic effect. The colloidal suspension preferably contains particulate metal salt or metal oxide having a refractive index of about >=1.9 or 1.3-1.6 in water, water/alcohol mixture or an alcohol in a cosmetic medium. The metal salt and metal oxide are preferably SiO2 , MgF2 , CaF2 , etc.
