TREATMENT OF MATERIAL CONTAINING ZINC, LEAD AND CHLORINE

PURPOSE:To use the molten fly ash contg. zinc, lead, mercury and chlorine as the secondary material for nonferrous metal refining without discarding the fly ash to reclamation. CONSTITUTION:The molten fly ash is leached with water in the presence of an oxidizing agent to separate zinc and mercury into the filtrate and lead into the residue. The filtrate regulated to pH1.5 to 3.5 is then brought into contact with sodium hydrosulfide to separate zinc into the filtrate and mercury into the residue.
