PURPOSE:To obtain a foamed structure having superior mechanical performance and surface smoothness by a method wherein a fiber-plastic composite layer is composed of a composite fiber or composite system having one component that is thermally fused and bonded to a thermoplastic foam, and the composite fiber layer or composite system layer and the thermoplastic foam are heated. CONSTITUTION:A foamed structure 1 is formed by integrally bonding a fiber- plastic layer 2 to a thermoplastic foam 3 over the full surface thereof. In the fiber-plastic layer 2, a layer made of a composite fiber is used as an original material layer, one component of the composite fiber in the layer is substantially melted, the composite fibers are melted to be integrated with each other and plasticized, and the composite fiber layer and the thermoplastic foam 3 are integrated by melting and fusing one component of the composite fiber to the thermoplastic foam 3. At this time, one component of the composite fiber is melted to be plasticized. The other components are made to remain in the plasticized layer still in a fibrous form. In this manner, the plasticized layer is formed into the fiber-reinforced plastic layer 2 reinforced by the remaining fiber components. |
