<p>PURPOSE:To produce the subject compound useful as a medicine having alpha- glucosidase inhibitory effect by reacting an inosose derivative with a primary amine or hydroxylamine and subsequently conducting reduction. CONSTITUTION:This compound of formula II (A is an amine residue or H; R<3> is H or an OH protecting group; waved line is an R- or S-oriented bond) is produced by conducting condensation reaction between a compound of formula I (R<1> is an OH-protecting group) and a primary amine or hydroxylamine of the formula, R<2>NH2 (R<2> is an amine residue or OH) to synthesize a Schiff base, then reducing the resultant Schiff base with a metal hydride reducing agent (e.g. sodium borohydride) and subsequently removing the protecting group if necessary. This compound is useful for therapy and prevention of, e.g. hyperglycemia of man or animal and diabetes, obesity, adiposis, etc., caused by it.</p> |
