PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material having high sensitivity, enabling thermal recording due to low output laser and enabling recording reduced in the coloration of a background and improved in grade by using a compd. represented by a specific formula as an infrared absorbing dye of the thermal layer arranged on a support. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording material for infrared laser is obtained by arranging a thermal layer containing at least a substantially colorless color forming component, a substantially colorless color forming component reacting with the same to form a color and an infrared absorbing dye on a support. In this case, the infrared absorbing dye is represented by formula (R1 and R2 are an alkyl group which may have a substituent, Z1 and Z2 are an atomic group forming a benzene ring which may have a substituent, L is a trivalent group wherein seven methine groups which may have a substituent are bonded by a conjugated double bond, X is an ion keeping equilibrium of charge and m is a number keeping equlibrium of charge). By this constitution, the thermal recording material having high sensitivity and reduced in the coloration of a background is obtained. |
