PURPOSE:To obtain an oxidation catalyst with which a substrate can be efficiently oxidized with molecular oxygen under moderate conditions without requiring a special reducing agent, etc., by using an imide compd. expressed by specified formula to constitute the catalyst to oxidize the substrate with molecular oxygen. CONSTITUTION:This oxidation catalyst is used to oxidize a substrate with molecular oxygen and consists of an imide compd. expressed by formula I. In formula I, R<1> and R<2> are the same or different and are hydrogen atoms, halogen atoms, alkyl groups, aryl groups, cycloalkyl groups, hydroxyl groups, alkoxy groups, carboxyl groups, alkoxycarbonyl groups, and acyl groups, and R<1> and R<2> may be coupled with each other to form a double bond or aromatic or nonaromatic ring. X is an oxidizing atom or hydroxyl group and an (n) is an integer of 1 to 3. The substrate can be oxidized by bringing the substrate into contact with molecular oxygen in the presence of this oxidation catalyst. |
