PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive honeycomb structure body excellent in carrying property for a catalyst and flame resistancy which can be preferably used as a catalyst carrier for decomposition of ozone and deodorization, and to provide its production method. CONSTITUTION:To a mixture comprising 60-80wt.% aggregate which substantially shows no change in the crystal structure at <500C and 20-40wt.% clay, phosphate as a hardening agent is added by >=2.0wt.% of external addition and a forming assistant and water are added to plasticize the mixture. Then the mixture is formed into a honeycomb body by extrusion molding, is dried and is heat treated at 300-500 to obtain a honeycomb structure. |
