PURPOSE: To easily fix an inflator to a housing wall by fixing the inflator to a side wall by an adapter engaged with the inflator and supporting it in a position in a chamber. CONSTITUTION: An axial distance between the end part of an inflator 90 and the groove surface 144 of an adapter 140 is preferably set slightly longer than a distance between a main inner surface with the first side wall of a housing and the end surface 66 of the flange 60 of a second side wall 22. Thus, when components are assembled, the adapter 140 presses the second side wall 22 of the housing. The side wall 22 of the housing is pushed wide in an axial direction. Thus, the radial elongation surface of the adapter 140 is firmly engaged with the radial elongation end surface 66 of the flange 60 of the second side wall 22. This engagement prevents the inflator 90 from being axially moved with respect to the side wall 22 of the housing.
