1,142,317. Removing CO 2 . A. G. EICKMEYER. 24 June, 1966 [1 Feb., 1966], No. 28511/66. Heading C1A. [Also in Division C7] In a process for removing CO 2 from H 2 - containing gases by dissolving it in alkaline solutions of K 2 CO 3 , K 3 BO 3 , monoethanolamine, diethanolamine, diethanolamine borate, or mixtures thereof, corrosion of the apparatus is prevented by using a solution containing Na, K, or NH 4 peroxy- or meta-vanadate, as corrosion inhibitor, and adding an oxidizing agent during operation to maintain the inhibitor in an oxidized state. The oxidizing agent may be air, O 2 , H 2 O 2 soln. or K 2 Cr 2 O 7 soln. It may be added to the line carrying the loaded solution to the top of the regenerating tower or to the line carrying stripping steam to the bottom, or part of the solution may be treated and returned. The meta vanadate may be formed in situ by adding V 2 O 5 to the alkaline solution. The peroxyvanadate is said to be formed when metavanadate is added and H 2 O 2 is used.
|
