A roofing tile has an inner and an outer covering surface, as well as securing lugs in the area of its top end. The edges of two parallel longitudinal sides of the roofing tile are provided with contact grooves and complementary contact ribs that extend in a parallel direction to the edges, and the roofing tile has a step. Reinforcement ribs are arranged on the inner covering surface in the longitudinal direction of the tile and decorative grooves are arranged on the outer covering surface in the longitudinal direction of the tile. In order to reduce the weight of such a tile in relation to its surface area, the whole tile has substantially the same thickness, except for the reinforcement ribs (13, 14) on both sides of the step (11), and the reinforcement ribs (13, 14) are arranged below the decorative grooves (10). |
