A keyboard protection system comprising a metal foil or shim for overlying keyboard actuators or keys, the foil being provided with a readily deformable portion over each key. The foil is of brass or stainless steel and the deformable portions are triangular flaps constituted by three of four slits radiating away from a central aperture and preferably not extending beyond the respective areas of the associated keys. A protective flexible plastics sheet overlays the foil and is attached thereto by a double-sided adhesive sheet member aperture in the areas of the keys. The plastics material may be polyester, polycarbonate or melamine. The foil may also be attached to the keyboard by a double-sided adhesive sheet. With this invention the keyboard protection system is stronger and harder wearing and thus less subject to wear. Even if the plastics sheet wears the switch units and associated electronics of the keyboard are protected from mechanical damage or from spillages by the metal foil. |
