A method for protecting electrical lugs (1), particularly for motor vehicles, is disclosed, wherein the ends (5) of an electrical cable (3) are crimped into each of said lugs. This method includes tin-plating each electrical lug by the localised and rapid heating of said lug with a microtorch (9); depositing a soldering material onto the electrical cable ends; and rapidly cooling said electrical lug once the soldering material has penetrated into the electrical lug and coated the ends of the electrical cable. This invention is useful in motor vehicles.
