PURPOSE:To prevent surface roughening of a roll surface which is significant in hot rolling of steel products by the high-speed steel roll. CONSTITUTION:One or >=2 kinds of compds. selected from a group consisting of oil-soluble carboxylic acids, polycarboxylic acids or their anhydrides, partial esters or partial amides, sulfonic acids and their salts are supplied as they are to the roll for hot rolling at least at the time of non-rolling or are supplied thereto after the compds. are diluted with a hot lubricating oil. As a result, the formation of black skin by oxidation of the roll surface is suppressed and the surface roughening of the roll is drastically lessened. Consequently, the generation of the surface scale flaws on the rolled products occurring in this surface roughening is prevented and simultaneously, the increase of rolling load is lessened. |
