<p>The packaging comprises a plurality of intercommunicating cells (10) and valve means for inflating the cells. The method comprises selecting an appropriate cell layout (see Figure 3 for a number of different cell layouts) for protecting a specific article and then determining, preferably from empirical data, the size of the aperture (12) between each pair of adjacent cells (or the sizes of said apertures and the inflation pressure of the cells) in order to minimise or substantially minimise the peak deceleration felt by each face of the article on impact.</p> |
