A device for cutting continuous slots in turf or ground to be turfed and comprising a plurality of rotary cutting discs (11) rotatably mounted side-by-side in parallel spaced relationship on a main frame (15) to be traversed over the ground in a direction parallel to the plane of the cutting discs. The cutting discs (11) are supported on bearings (17, 18) which are eccentrically mounted on a driven shaft (13) such that driven rotation of the shaft and of the eccentrically mounted bearings causes the discs to perform an epicyclic motion with respect to the main frame and thus oscillatory penetration of the ground. Preferably, inner bearing members (18) of a series of pairs of discs are circumferentially offset from one another around the shaft (13) whereby the entire system of discs (11) and bearings (17, 18) is balanced statically and dynamically around the axis of the shaft. <IMAGE>
