Measuring system for measuring level of liquid or flowable media in container

The level measuring system includes two float units (12.1,12.2) each containing a magnet and movable along slide pipes (18.1,18.2). At least one float can change in relation to its specific wt., by having a screw cap (20) for the addition or removal of a ballast material e.g. sand. This enables the determination of different levels of media having different specific weights. Each slide pipe contains a series of chips along its length, each containing a reed switch activated by the float magnet, and a resistor. An evaluation unit determines the level from the resistances along the slide pipes. An indicating unit is connected to the evaluation unit and converts the signal of the evaluation unit into optically readable information which is then indicated.
