The invention pertains to a method for territorial surveillance with the aid of a radar system, using a duplexer, preferably a phased array with a number of adjacent radiation lobes. The differently coded signals transmitted by said radiation lobes are scanned in succession over a target and the echo signal is evaluated using a matched filter. The method makes it possible to reduce substantially the transmitting power of the individual radiation lobes.
