Probe for measuring solids or liquids in gas streams e.g. gas-borne particles in process and emission control systems

The probe, used with control or measuring devices, includes a rotating body with a conical head (1) which conforms to the aperture of the gas carrier, linked to a symmetrically rotating end-piece (2). The end-piece is ellipsoidal in section, with its flat surface positioned directly above the base of the conical head and of corresponding length. A gas suction entrance (3) is situated at the cross-section between the cone base and the end-piece, and is connected to a gas pipe (4). Depending on the gas flow speed, the solid-loading and other process parameters, the ratio between the length of the head (1) and the end piece is adjustable between 0.5 and 2. The angle of the cone can be between 40 and 60 deg.
