The arrangement is for the feed of primary air to an atmospheric gas burner which is positioned via a trough. There is a level cooking plate of glass ceramic broken through only in the area of the burner and the operating components. A cooking trough (1) is provided with a trough-shaped floor plate (5) and an even glass ceramic cooking plate (2) with two atmospheric gas burners (3,3'), which is broken through only in the area of the burner and operating components (4). The gas burners are supported by spring plates (7,7') on the floor plate. Air feed takes place between the frame construction (6) and the glass ceramic cooking surface. For protection of the opening (8) from fluid entry through overflowing cooking material or during cleaning, a device (9) is provided made of refined steel or black-painted or anodised metal, which is located formed as a hood at a distance over the opening between the cooking plate and the frame.
