<p>A method for producing fatty acids or derivatives thereof from oil plants by producing transgenic oil plants that have at least one gene coding for a lipase, i.e. a lipase gene, and a promoter combined with the lipase gene and enabling the expression thereof either in compartments other than the lipid accumulation compartments or by exogenous induction, collecting seeds or fruits containing lipids of the plants, crushing them, optionally after inducer processing, to contact the lipids with the lipase, incubating the resulting material to cause enzymatic hydrolysis of the lipids, and extracting the fatty acids or fatty acid derivatives.</p> |
