381,197. Helical springs. HYDE, W. J., 5, Inchmery Road, Catford, London. June 2, 1931, No. 16102. [Class 108 (iii).] In a door-closing device comprising L-shaped members 1, 2 upon which a compression spring 7 acts, the spring passes through an aperture in a limb 8 of the member 2 and can be engaged by a pivoted catch 12, Fig. 3, which enters between any two coils of the spring. In this way the effective length of the spring can be varied to vary the position to which the door returns when released, or the closing force can be increased by compressing the spring with the door closed before engaging the catch. This arrangement may be applied to both ends of the spring. The apertures through which the spring passes have rounded edges to avoid catching the coils.
|
