The invention pertains to a sensor device with a sensor (2) and a measuring device (3) for measuring vital parameters of a fetus during birth, the sensor (2) having on its front side facing the fetus a wire spiral (7) placed at the center of the sensor for attachment of the sensor to the fetus and having at least one light emitter (12) and at least one receiver (13), which are connected to the measuring device (3) by means of wires (30) arranged in a cable leading from the sensor (2) to the measuring device (3). The cable (4) advantageously enters into the back side of the sensor (2) laterally and essentially tangentially and, prior to entry, forms a spiral coincident in direction with that of the wire spiral (7).
