Incinerator for burning time=expired pyrotechnical devices

The method and device are for processing mist and smoke generating pyrotechnical devices which are filled into a container and fed into a first combustion chamber, in which they are brought to ignition temp. The devices are left for a predetermined period in the first combustion chamber and are allowed to smoulder in one or more further such chambers. The devices are heated with surface burners to a temp. in the range between 300 and 500 deg.C. The combustion chambers are tightly closed, and the flue gases are continuously withdrawn, the devices being then fed to a thermic after-treatment. At least two combustion chambers (5,6,7) which are sealed are arranged one behind the other. They are heated to a predetermined temp. by surface burners (10,11,12). At least one cooling chamber (8) cools the burnt material.
