<p>The branch pipe consists of a main body (3) made from an outer fixed jacket (4) which is impermeable to gas and extends vertically from a main pipe (1), and a branching tube (5). The jacket contains a hollow insert (6) which provides a passage (7) for the gas between the main pipe and the branching tube and has an automatic cut-out which operates in the event of over-pressure. The cut-out is in the form of a weight (10) which is lifted by the pressure of the gas emerging from the main pipe and, in the event of the pressure rising above a set level, interacts with a seat (11) inside the insert and shuts off the flow. The lower end of the insert has a cutting edge for piercing the main pipe and apertures in its sides for the gas to pass through.</p> |
