Equipment has a vertically movable clamping unit which passes through the tyre centre. Simultaneously, radially acting clamping segments are moved outwards to grasp the upper bead section of the tyre with the upper end of vertical centralising rods. The complete clamping unit is then raised with the tyre to locate the upper bead section in the upper bead ring of the mould. Holding arms retain the upper bead section in position and the clamping unit descends to grasp the lower bead section with the centralising rods. the lower bead section is then located in the lower bead ring of the tool. USE/ADVANTAGE - The equipment locates an unvulcanised tyre in a mould and achieves accurate centralisation even when the parallelism of upper and lower bead wires is imperfect and alleviates the use of high pressure gas to assist centralisation |
