<p>The invention provides a male thread as a universal thread which may be screwingly connected with different types of female thread. It includes a taper thread section at the front or free end which is followed by a cylindrical thread section. The latter is constituted by a cylindrical BSP thread or a Withworth pipe thread corresponding to the respective thread nominal size, the number of threads per inch being selected to be equal to the nominal value conventional for the nominal size of thread. The number of threads per inch in the taper section is in a range between the nominal values of the cylindrical thread section and of an NPT thread with the same size. Furthermore the invention proposes a female thread with the same design, which may also be used as a universal thread.</p> |
