摘要 PURPOSE:To easily produce a powdery zinc ferrite excellent in magnetic characteristic, etc., by executing a roasting step in an atmosphere of steam by using a mixed starting material containing metal chloride and metal oxide and consisting of zinc and iron. CONSTITUTION:The mixed material consisting of at least one kind of metal chloride (e.g. FeCl2) and at least one kind of metal oxide (e.g. ZnO) and consisting of the zinc and the iron is prepared. A composition ratio of the metal chloride and the metal oxide in the mixed material is preferably 99/1 to 30/70 basing on a mol. ratio, and the composition ratio of the zinc and the iron is preferably 5/95 to 30/70 basing on the mol. ratio. Then, a powdery zinc ferrite being a solid solution of magnetite and zinc ferrite is produced by executing the roasting step in an atmosphere of steam by using this mixed material as the starting material and by subjecting the starting material to decomposition reaction simultaneously with solid-state reaction.
