PURPOSE:To efficiently separate and recover heavy metals, chlorine and calcium contained in a fly ash produced at the time of incinerating a shredder dust from scrapped automobiles, scrapped houshold electric products or the like to reduce the volume. CONSTITUTION:Cu and Zn in the fly ash are selectively eluted as an ammonium complex by exuding the fly ash with an ammonium carbonate solution in the presence of chlorine and then Cu and Zn are efficiently recovered electrochemically from the exudation liquid without the problem of malodor due to ammonia.
