<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a new peptide derivative having such a property as to be highly reactive with a clotting enzyme (protease) to be activated as a result of reaction between an endotoxin and a limulus blood cells and also highly soluble to water, thus suitable as a substrate for determining the activity of the clotting enzyme easily and in high sensitivity. CONSTITUTION:This peptide derivative (or an acid-added salt thereof) is expressed by the general formula X-Thr-Gly-Arg-Y (X is an N-terminal protecting group of amino acid; Thr is threonine residue; Gly is glycine residue; Arg is arginine residue; Y is a chromophoric or fluorescent group forming covalent bond to the C-terminal of arginine residue). Quantification of endotoxin can be made by using this peptide derivative as substrate.</p> |
