The machine is mounted on a frame (1). An arm (3) is hinged (3) on the frame plate and pivoted through a vertical arc (R) of 180 degrees. The arm is driven by a motor (12), via a crank mechanism (7-11) and a toothed belt drive (4-6). At one end of the arm's travel, the fingers of a gripping mechanism (13,14,17,18,23) dig into the compost (33) around a plant (35) and lift it from the tray (36). The finger mechanism is operated by a pressure mechanism (25) and pneumatic piston (15). At the other end of its travel, the finger mechanism is released, depositing the plant and clump of compost into a plant pot (37) on a transporter belt (38). |
