PURPOSE:To synthesize lithium-containing transition metal composite oxide of stratified structure in good producibility, with which stable charge/discharge cycle characteristics are obtained by the use of a specific manganese compound. CONSTITUTION:As a manganese compound, a compound containing the +3 valent manganese is used, and a lithium-containing transition metal composite oxide of stratified structure according to the chemical formula LixMnyCo2 Ni1-(y+2))O2 is prepared, where x, y, Z are conditioned that 0.9<x<=1.2. 0.0<y<0, and 0.0<=z<0.5, and also the condition 0.0<y+z<=0.5 should be meet. Use of maaganese compound containing the +3 valent manganese allows manufacturing lithium-containing transition metal composite oxide with good reproducibility, which has a large electrochemical capacity and in which a stratified structure with good crystalinity has grown. For the manganese compound consisting of +3 valent manganese, gamma-MnOOH should preferably be used, which allows suppressing the propagation of side reaction. |
