PURPOSE:To provide a paste type lead-acid battery having a good initial performance and life performance by specifying the range of the thickness of graphite to be added to a positive electrode active material. CONSTITUTION:Anisotropic graphite is classified to particle sizes 150-1200 mum, followed by stratification by thicksesses so that anisotropic graphite of 5-80mum is obtained, which is added to a positive electrode active material. This mixture lead powder is kneaded so that a positive electrode paste is prepared, and with this a lead alloy grating is filled followed by a maturing process, and the resultant is combined with an electrode plate so that a paste type lead-acid battery is accomplished. The graphite thickness 5-80mum is optimum for adding to the positive electrode active material, and a paste type lead-acid battery can be obtained which excels in initial performance and lifetime performance. |
