PURPOSE:To provide a continuous mercerizing process and a mercerizer therefor, which can prevent the reaction solution from staying on the conveyer sheet, avoid silver breakage and uneven reaction, and moreover can simplify the washing and/or neutralizing processes. CONSTITUTION:The silver S is crimped, fed on the inclined drainage board formed with parallel fixed rods 22 and wetted with an aqueous caustic soda to effect preliminary wetting reaction for preshrinkage, as the sliver is conveyed on the parallel rod plain. Further, the sliver is put between the conveyer sheets 36, 37, dipped in the bath B of aqueous caustic soda to complete the reaction. Then, the sliver is pulled out of the conveyer sheets and squeezed with squeezing rollers 53, held and crumpled with flute rollers 61, and washed and neutralized. Thus, the sliver of natural celluloslc fibers S can be continuously mercerized. |
