<p>PURPOSE:To prevent burning of a laminated varistor due to the local concentration of current by forming a notch at least one part of the peripheral side surface of the laminated varistor, exposing an internal electrode at the notch part, and forming terminals so as to abut on an upper and a lower internal electrodes of the exposed part, and applying voltage. CONSTITUTION:Plural internal electrodes 2 are provided inside a laminated varistor element 1, and external electrodes 3 are provided in both ends thereof. The internal electrodes 2 are exposed at a notch part 1A. In this condition, a pin having narrow tip is made to abut on the upper and the lower internal electrodes 2, and the current is applied so as to measure the varistor characteristic between each layer. In this case, a good product has nearly constant varistor characteristic between layers. In the case where change of thickness between layers and change of varistor characteristic of the effective layer exist, varistor characteristic between each layer is uneven. Consequently, since the defective product is excluded, burning due to the local concentration of current can be prevented in the market.</p> |
